Our new website, www.morethantwopointfour.co.uk, was the result of ridiculous swimming pool ratios imposed half way through a Park Dean holiday, and the plethora of Kids Go Free promotions we were excluded from over the summer hols. We have therefore started to campaign for Flexible Family Tickets, which offer an admission discount that includes all our children! We would really appreciate any feedback from you, the real experts on money saving on Days Out with large families,as we still try to take the kids out for the day, we just don't want to have to remortgage every time!So let us know about places where you have purchased a FFT, and any other campaign we should be starting...Thank you! |

A fab idea, but my eyes could only take that pink for a few minutes before I had to quit, so I didn't really get to see much! You can take the girl out of London, but you can't take London out of the girl! Youth is wasted on the young!

I don't mind the pink . Good idea and think we have all had similar problems with pools and attractions. But I think there will always be a problem with abuse of any scheme that allows a "Family" to be of any size. Because it is open to abuse/misuse by those who will bring along all thier kids friends, or two 2+2 families paying for only a couple and one family etc. Basically those who will lie and say "yes" in reply to "all they all yours?" when they are not . And I'm betting the swimming pool rules have something to do with insurance, and the amount of staff the pool have to have on duty. (And could well be probably in reaction to mums who single handedly take a dozen classmates on a birthday trip too). Didn't see it mentioned on your site, but another thing you need to do is to look at other discounts that are available at attractions and make sure they are applied to the right family members. Eg. a trip to our local zoo, where family was 2+2 and an adult was over 14yrs, but under 3's were free, the 7 of us went as: One family, one under 3, one child, and one student. Other times it was cheaper to be two single parent families, because they allow a 3rd child instead of 2nd adult. Just an idea but . Wonder if a small annual fee to a scheme, that gave you a joint ID that showed they are all yours might be a worthwhile route to look into. All the best with your website. Maybe one of the mods could add a link in days out. No midlife crisis here. I am simply going through a renaissance

There is a way to prove they're all one family, blended or otherwise - a Child Benefit statement. And yes, I think a link is absolutely in order! Wonder if I can find my FTP program.... Looking forward to a handmade, homegrown, treadledriven, pedalpowered future!

Me too. But what I take take before I had to adorn my sunglasses was the bit about toys in kids shoes. I hate that! My little girl got put in the red book for playing with her shoe toys in class one day - we'd been out for new shoes that morning and I'd dropped her off at school not having realised they actually had toys in them. I'm not the most observant of folk.. Bird flu is a killer...swine flu is a killer...its about time Man-flu lived up to its expectations

Angie, my kids haven't been listed on the child benefit statment since the last one was born /added in 1999. All it says is £ amount for Eldests childs name and then £ amount for your "other children". I remember that because I had to dig out that old one each time for the two youngest to get enrolled at school. (They do know the other names as they've moved the next name to oldest child place each time one reached 19). No midlife crisis here. I am simply going through a renaissance

I like your site, like the theory behind starting the site as well, we had loads of problems about the family ticket thing a while ago, Espescially in places where it doesnt make it clear what their version of 'family' is. DP had a stand up argument with one chap at a local farm for kids, stating "this is my family", LOL. Bernice my statement for CB is the same as yours, oldest child, other children. Dont know how companies could make us prove they were "all ours" LOL. |

Yep same here with child benefit, although you can ask them for more details to be sent. Tax credits have them all on though.

Thank you all for that feedback, and sorry the pink doesn't work for all...it actually looks purple on mine, but maybe thats the rose coloured specs I look at it with!!!!My blog, when I get it going, is on white you'll be pleased to hear! Re Flexible Family Tickets, I guess we just want consistency, same with the swimming pool rules really. Park Dean just changed them half way through a weeks holiday, and the rules became totally different to what was and still is advertised..and thats different to our local pool! With FFT, no one asks 'usual' family ticket (2A/2C) to 'prove' the kids are all theirs, so why should we have to carry proof? Discounted admission tickets are supposed to encourage people in, and lets fce it, they make their money back on the extra ice creams etc we buy! Some of the FFT we have found are only 50p off each ticket if more than four are bought together, which is exactly the philosophy and consistency we are looking for- its about being fair to big families!! And don't even get me started on the big Merlin entertainment Parks, these range from almost Flexible Tickets at Alton Towers, to none at all at Legoland. (well, I suppose thats consistancy!!) Maybe some kind of membership card for morethantwopointfour could be the way to go, to prove the children are all ours, though. I like to think BIG!! Many thanks again for all your feedback, |
