With a tag like downshifting columnist, it's not too hard to guess what my site is about...

I write for many venues, but one of my main online columns can be found at http://www.FrenchEntree.com/fe-downshifting

There are lots of articles there about changing to a simpler, happier lifestyle and they are not necessarily just for folks in or moving to France.

My other baby, is http://www.DownshiftingWeek.com

It is the official supporting website for National Downshifting Week in the UK, which will be celebrated between 23-29 April this year (2005).

Being frugal is not mean, it's savvy!

Upgrade your life and downshift

I like your French Entree
lots to read! I didn't know that you had charity shops in France, I suppose as tourists we don't look for them

Hi Angela,

Thanks for the compliment on www.FrenchEntree.com/fe-downshifting. I do enjoy writing the site and you will see as you scroll down the page, the articles at the very bottom are the first ones I posted. I just don't have the heart to remove them! LOL... Anyway, I figure for those just starting their journey, it is a good reference point.

There are not many charity shops here at all and hardly any in the traditional sense you are referring to.

I used to volunteer my Saturday to work for Home Farm Trust in the UK (which supports the disabled for workshops, sheltered accommodation etc) and here I volunteer 9.30-11.00 on Saturday for OSF (a childrens charity for kids all over the world).

They are located in a little lock up on a mini-retail park (all of 4 shops) and only open for an hour and a half one day a week

But I do love it and have come away with some smashing bargains.

When I move back to England, it will be one of the first things I sort out, getting back in the saddle again!
